Being Humans. Wearing A MaskA Poem by OnlymeWhen you look into the mirror do you really see you or someone else? As the majority of people project and act like they are someone else. The single mother who spends beyond her means and lavishes out on expensive clothing for her kids and fancy gadgets and toys and furniture for her home. And ends up in massive debt she cannot pay back. Or the girl who dresses like a tart. Short skirt, b**b hanging out And over down make-up and orange tango skin to look sexy for the guys. But the majority of decent guys. Think she is easy. As she is trying too hard to get a man. Or the intelligent guy who is a nerd. But quite and reserved. But really he is just a bit shy and loves a good laugh. But finds it hard to make friends at University. Or the single guy who works long late shifts all the time. No family. Lives alone. Only his dog for company. So eats microwave meals and has no mates due to work and sleep ruling his life. Or the lady who lives in the posh part of town. And drives a fancy car. Who secretly steals clothing or make-up from designer shops. When she is bored or stressed. I guess what I am saying is. We all wear a mask to some degree. As fellow human beings. And we not always what you perceive us to be. Just by the look at us at face value. Like the classroom joker. Who actually at night get beat up by his drunk stepfather. But in school, he is always making everyone laugh out loud. Or the top girl in class the everyone loves. Who is getting abused by her father ever night. And cries her eyes to get to sleep. And the next day at school. She smiles and does her work like a good girl in class. © 2018 Onlyme |
