McDonalds.

McDonalds.

A Poem by Onlyme

McDonald's

At the local McDee's
Kids running around shouting
and screaming.
Mother with a baby in arms.
"Shouting come here" Clayton
& Ellie to the runaways.

Teenagers in a group,  around a crowded
table. Chewing hamburgers and drinking coca cola
via straws and mobile phones going ten to the dozen
talking and texting out loud.

An old couple with a coffee and a hamburger
to keep out the cold. Sitting beside each other.
Quitely eating. Bothering no one.

And workmen in their cabs out front sitting
in the peace and quiet. Enjoying their meals.
In so-called private. Feeling the zen of harmony
fill their driver side lungs.

And the drive-through is like a race track. All the
impatient drivers. Waiting annoyingly to get
their turn at the window. To get their food order.

And the young school levers. Making the food inside
with that look of boredom and is this really my life
now.

And the sneaky odd worker. Going outside for a
cigarette.

Oh, the joys of McDees.

love this I can relate to this
my son worked at the local one for 3 years doing the all nighters and late shifts I used to pick him up at ungodly hours then go to work.
McDees gave him a start in life a good work ethic a few years later he is now this year after 3 years apprenticeship working and studying at tafe and doing all nighter jobs again and weeks away in country a fully fledged electrician. He has saved and gone to Canada last year and this year Europe all his own work and savings. I think MCdees gave him the best start in life and he has a work ethic I have never seen in anyone in my family. Hes only just turned 23. I remember the day I drove him after school to his interview and they turned him down at McDees as they said com back in six months he was about 15 he got in the car so disappointed all he wanted to do was work and get his goals. I took him to his next after school interview and he got it the smile on his face I will remember forever.
mcdees is a great place I go there once a month for a treat for my after work dinner and love it still
lets praise it I also remember going there for my kids birthday parties every year (all 3 of them) and what memories it brings back, I also remember going there on dates when I was a teen when the first one hit Sydney back in the 70s I think. I eat it in moderation due to a heart condition but love it still

Dee-Dawn -
Nicely done. I have a neighbor whose son worked at the McDonalds close to us. He enjoyed it, most of the people he worked with were schoolmates. His mother told us about how h was saving his money and appreciated his independence when it came to money matters. Like most of his friends he is setting some of his earnings aside for college.
Take care - Dave

I really enjoyed reading this, you painted a perfect picture of McDonalds using your words, it felt almost familiar.
I never thought I would read something about McDonalds, it's definitely a surprise.

Very well written.
