Words Do Hurt.

The old saying sticks and stones

will break your bones

but words

will never hurt you

When in reality

words can hurt

and break you

outwith the physical

beatings.

Like a bully

who thinks it's

funny to belittle

and put someone down

and make a fool of them.

In front of others.

And laugh in their face.

They think.

No harm was done.

It was just a bit of fun.

Until the day.

The child hangs

themselves

in their bedroom

from the

main overhead light.

Or self-harms

or suffers from

bulimia or anorexia

due to all the stress

and pain

caused by the bully.

So next time you open

your mouth and think.

Words do not affect

someone.

You will see from above

they do.

Outwith physical abuse

on top.

Unfortunately as a teacher I've seen this many times. I've always done something about it, sorry to say there are some teachers I've worked with that didn't see anything terribly wrong with it.

Very true Dee, people reap what they sow, show hatred or aggression
to a young child, and one day that child will grow up to be the person
we fear, but some in society can afford security to protect them in

Yes, they do Ron, hurt like hell. I remember as a child always getting told off. When things went wrong. And I did nothing wrong. It was my fault.

People have a belief the physical is worse "Did he hit you?" they ask ... Not unless hurting means battered with words. A very important group of thoughts here.
