Loneliness The Curse......

Loneliness The Curse......

A Poem by Onlyme

Loneliness
is one
of the major
curse
of this world

So many people
live alone
or feel unloved
or unwanted
let alone
have
feelings
of
overwhelming
despair and
isolation

at having
no one
at all
to share
time with
let alone talk
an even a
basic hello
together

It does not
matter
if you have
family or
friends

you can
still feel
very alone
and isolated
at any age

this can
happen
to anyone
at anytime
for many
reason

An old lady
outliving
her family
and  she
lives alone

sits and stares
out her window
daily
is her
only companion

A homeless person
on his own.
No family, no friends
no one.
To love him

A runaway teenager
as he got abused
at home
and he is now
on the
 streets
Barely an adult
defending himself
scared to hell

so many people
so many lives
all feeling
the
same lonely
 scared
and having
no one to
be a friend
to them

You could
actually, smile
at a stranger
in the street
and You could be
the first
the person
they have spoken
to
in weeks.
Outwith the shopkeeper at
the local shop.

Rest of time
they are alone.
24/7 normally
no one to love them
at all.

Spare a thought
for
lonely people
reach out
and touch
someones
life today.

It costs nothing
just a simple
smile or
even a friendly
hello.

Maybe even
check
on an
elderly neighbour
who lives alone
Make their day.

And show you care

Excellent poem, Dee. People were meant to be social creatures, and few things in this world are more painful than total isolation. This line was my favorite: "It costs nothing, just a simple smile or even a friendly hello.". Even such a small gesture can have a monumental impact, especially on those who are lonely.

Keep up the great work!

Sadly so true Dee
We live two of us > We have our outings where we meet others to pass the time of day with: the till girl on the supermarket cash out Possibly a shelf stacker

Then home and close the door
Our relations live far away
Two sisters one died aged 59 The other lives with a control freak
She is not allowed a PC or email of her own He has to read every message > Feel sorry for her
BUT now I don't write > she cannot reply > They are at the opposite side of the world

I am so sorry to hear this Wild Rose. That is awful. Thinking of you and your sister.
Very true Dee ....smiles are free....words too....give them away.....so that there is some peace ...happiness..... love....

Sending you warm hugs....
You are a beautiful soul
