Bonnie Scotland

Bonnie Scotland

A Poem by Onlyme

Bonnie Scotland
The landscape is breathtaking
the mountain views spectacular
the valleys and rivers
of so many different shades
of greens, browns,
 purples and golden yellows
from the grass, heather and trees

the deep blue of the rivers
and the wildlife of reindeer
and sheep, highland cattle
the grouse to name a few
as far as the eyes can see.

My homeland. Dear to me.

Visit Ben Nevis the tallest Mountain
or the capital Edinburgh or dear old
sweet Glasgow Town.

maybe even visit the Shetland Islands
Caithness and some other Northern places
In Scotland

And get a good chance of even
seeing the Northern Lights
called the "Mirrie Dances"

Drink our Whiskey and raise a cheer
And smile and have a good time.

I haven't visited Scotland for many years Dee, but my Mum and Dad lived up there for a few years, during which time I visited several times. The scenery is breathtaking, the lochs, mountains and glens to die for. I visited in autumn so had the benefit of and glory of all the golds. I wrote a poem once about a piper piping on the banks of a loch. Still have it somewhere. You have brought all that back to me. Thank you Dee. Your poem a fine advertisement for Scotland's tourist board.

Scotland sound wonderful. Perhaps I could visit after I go to Greece? :)

Lovely to look back with fondness.
I saw Scotland in 1978 and she was beautiful.
