Football Crazy, Football Mad

Football Crazy, Football Mad

A Poem by Onlyme

Football crazy.
football mad,
Never ceases to
amazing me,
all this crap!

Got to,  excuse me!
As I'm,  not a football
fan!

All I see is a bunch of guys
or even ladies
kicking a ball
around a pitch
for 90 minutes.

And it is not my cup
of tea!

The joy
the sorry
the bittersweet
twist
at the end
of getting beat!

when you thought
you had just won.

Outwith,
 a few spare minutes
they all had
being
used up at the end
and then
beaten your team.

Oh lordy,  lordy,
so many drunk men
and woman
will be out and about
getting drunk tonight
celebrate
or even commiserating.

Depending
on the
team you
supported.

So many flags flying
and so many patriot banners
are high in the sky.
Oh, what fun and
jubilation.

As well as heartache
caused by
kicking a ball
around
a stadium
Oh, what it can do!
To some poor
souls.

The millions some of these
players earn
could feed a country
or two.  Let alone pay for
a health care system in
some foreign land.
Nutty and crazy this!

What a simple game,
can make people
pay over the odds for
a guy to kick a daft football!

Each to the own pleasures.
  I say!
It seems to give everyone
who watches and plays
this game.

A sense of camaraderie
sportsmanship and enjoyment
and you can not take that
away from anyone.
Not even I.

It seems the most popular game in the world has its ups and downs. It seems people's priorities are in the wrong place. I guess teams become nationalist projection of success and failure. As long as it is a peaceful game , good entertainment, mucho money generated, I don't mind. Sportsmanship can be very good.

Some people really have a passion for something, some may scream it louder than others but at the end of the day, that fandom just has a different set of rules that may clash with others. With that said... go Ravens!
