The magic of a smile

to sharing a laugh

The joy of a simple smile,

from a complete stranger

can brighten your day.

As you pass them

by on the daily

grind to work on the street

That can make my day.

To hearing children,

laugh out loud

as they play in the park.

To hearing,

old men

in the local pub

share a joke or two.

As you pass

their table.

A good hearty

strong laugh

they do share!

To cuddling a newborn baby

and he starts to giggle and smile

out loud.

 That is enough

to stop your heart

from beating

and fill you

with so much pride and joy.

Outwith a big smile.

By hanging out

with your mates

and having a blast.

Laughing and joking

smiling and larking

and having

a great night

all due to the

camaraderie

and friendship

abound.

To watching

your son or daughter

get married,

graduate at university

or having just given birth

to mention

just a few occasions

of such pleasure

to

make you smile

and laugh out loud.

Cherish these moments

of heavenly joy.

What an amazing and positive outlook. I really like the feel of this poem. It cherishes, as you mentioned, such simple and joyful memories, it sets it's own background. When I read this, I pictured a phantom only watching, travelling through the wind. It seemed to just enjoy looking through the windows of bars to see young groups of college students laughing at nothing in particular. Or watching a mother catch her daughter after her first steps. It ended with a type of melancholy that isn't appreciated enough in the works and ideas in the poem. It painted the perfect image, and leaves the readers with a smile on their own faces at the realization of how amazing just a simple easy life is. I am so very grateful for such an amazing piece.
