Pondering my youth,

Pondering my youth,

A Poem by Onlyme

My eyes no longer work properly
My hearing is failing faster.
And I walk with a stoop and
need a walking frame to steady me.

I am sitting in the local Park.
Enjoy the warmth of a glorious
summers day. And I turn to hear
children playing nearby me where
i sit.

I think to myself. How wonderful
it is to be young. Carefree, happy
and fit and healthy. And to enjoy life
and living.

I turn back to  look down at my walk frame
And think to myself. I was lucky to have
had a great childhood myself. And wonderful
friends. Just like those children. I saw just
a moment ago.

I am very lucky. I had a good life. Grew up
had a great family myself and enjoyed life to

the full the best I could.

This poem is wonderfully bittersweet! The repetition and remembering really fill it with longing for something that can never be taken back.
