No Breaching The Walls

No Breaching The Walls

A Poem by Iz

how quickly the walls were rebuilt
or were they actually rebuilt
maybe the more accurate description
would be to mend the wall
where it had been weakened
lay more mortar
I want these walls to
never be breached again

can't believe I wasn't
more deligent in keeping the walls secure
how could I have been
so weak and trusting in everything

my gut is what I should
have listened to a little more
instead of following my heart
it knows what it wants
but doesn't mean it's always
what is best for everyone around

so this time I'll be prepared
for the onslaught
bring your best men
they won't get through
it'll now be made of steel,
bullet-proof glass,
and mortar and bricks so thick
that nothing can penetrate
for my lifetime or yours

it has become the true "touch-me-not"
watch as the men are wounded
trying to fight their way in
but if they had only listened
then they would know it's hopeless
a fight they shouldn't have even begun
it'll only cause them great pain and strife
so much suffering due to not believing
what their ears have been told

poor men
I do feel for them
for I have been
on the other side of the battle
and that's where I learned my defense
and is how I know that no one can penetrate
these freshly mended walls
