Cherished

Cherished

A Poem by Iz

My Dear,
Your urgent calling from the ocean has fallen on my ears.
Or was it a sweet beckoning from the sea.
Beckoning me ever nearer
Closer to me the wind brings your voice
It draws me into the abyss that is you

You have your own light
Your smile brightens up the darkest of places
Your eyes dance with laughter when we talk
You know just what to say to make me want to stay
You know what to do to draw me out of my shell

Sometimes I wish you just didn’t know me so very well
Sometimes I just wish I knew myself better than you seem to know me.

Here is something that you won’t hear very often
You were right
You were right in saying that I love you
You were right in saying that  I need you
You were right in saying that I breathe you in everything that I do

I need you more than my very own breath
For you are my breath
I need to feel your arms wrap around me
They are there for my own protection
I need your lips on mine
To show me how much you cherish me
