Mother-in-lawA Poem by Onku GhoshWho ever becomes a mother-in-law, behaves like a mother-in-law.......forgetting her own humiliation in the past.
Starry-eyed, as a demure bride,
Resplendent in jewels, Into his house you came- Hoping his mother would be yours. Stripped off your jewels, Your honour, not spared To an article you were reduced. Shattered o smithereens- Lay all your dreams. Years have gone by- A daughter (in-law)awaits acceptance. Beseeching a tender word, A gesture of love. You curse her, In unthinkable ways humiliate her. Hanker after her father's wealth . Forgetting those yesteryears ? Or, is it vengeance mother-in-law?????
