Self-Actualized

Self-Actualized

A Poem by Chase

My happiness is no longer so fine a line
that I risk falling over the edge,
toppling toward anger
and misery
on the whim of another
or myself.

My cerebellum has found balance
through a learned self-worth,
at the expense of bottled angst that
no longer is corked

or building.

I really liked the last half of the poem and the spacing between "no longer is corked" and "or building." Self actualization is a concept that I think we all admit in our heads, depending on what it is that we do, but when it comes to actually changing, it's hard. Balance is important and I used to hold it close to myself "clutch it like a cornerstone, otherwise it all comes down" is always a lyric I would say to myself. I have realized that balance is important, but it is not EVERYTHING. It is common to sway through life here and there, but at the end of the day as long as you try your best. I think this poem really resonates with my old self and my new self and how I have grown up as a person.
