I think about this often in regards to my baby son. It’s an awesome and overwhelming responsibility to be the one who shapes his truth. “My mind is great”. Ain’t that the truth. I think we forget that children are our teachers more than we are theirs. We are their guardians but they are the true teachers. This piece is a great reminder of the balance we should seek in guiding them and the respect we must show them in the process. Your writing is clear, concise, and free of unnecessary filler. Its true that they are as much our teachers as we are theirs.. So much could be learned from observing children as they grow; on their untainted and unbiased minds alone... We could learn loads. They soak up every bad habit we display with our opinions and actions. Should i ever have a child, I'll be sure to be wary of what they are exposed too.

It’s a daily, and sometimes hourly, struggle to reframe what’s going on into something that’s appropriate for baby to be absorbing. He’s a sponge. A perfect, hilarious, loud little sponge. Parenthood is like constantly looking in the mirror and being super conscientious about how you react to everything. But it’s worth it. I enjoyed this piece very much and it was a much needed shot in the arm today. Thanks!

In some way or another. But completely shielding them from the filth is no kindness either! It all shapes who we become. There's no Universal way to raise your sponge, but I'm glad to see that you seem to have a good take on one of the ways to do it! Always happy to help.
