Little Rectangle

Little Rectangle

A Poem by Chase

Before my eyes have even opened, you are on my mind.
Fingers reach for you, adept in the knowledge of your exact position beside the bed.

Whether at work, school, or home, you are with me;
a crutch to the brief moments of space in my day,
where I would otherwise be forced      to look up.

You speak to me, with endless vibrations, trills, and tangents of sound.
I always answer, immediately.
Impulsively.
Obsessively.

I own you, little rectangle.

Or do you own me?

Is this about a phone? I like the mysteriousness to your poems. I like reading poetry that makes me think and isn't so blatantly put out there. You have to make the reader think sometimes and ponder. My favorite lines are the last two; it made me want to do "dun dun dunnnnnnnn" at the end with some sound effects. :)
