Growing Tall

Growing Tall

A Poem by Chase

You better yourself by beating yourself,
The you of yesterday.

The one who stood in the mirror,
admiring a perceived flaw;
something that causes the figure of your confidence,
to somehow lose its voice.

Grow bold, and see no slight.
For every day is born anew,
and with it comes
a brand new you.

For some reason this reminds me of those Shel Silverstein poems I used to read when I was little, especially the title. I also imagined a little boy climbing a beanstalk while reading this, haha not sure why. I think the first two lines are my favorite and definitely make a good first statement. I can relate to this poem a lot. Is "The" supposed to be capitalized on purpose in the 2nd line, since you had a comma in the first line or was that just an error?
