Family Ant

Family Ant

A Poem by Chase

Little me goes to and fro
from up in trees
to way below.
I am alone and far from home
but should I find food
they will come.
I'll send the scent that is my own
screaming "Hey! Over here!
I found some!"
and then the rest would surely crawl
to this very spot, where
a worm does sprawl.
When we are many we hold firm
to push and pull and drag this worm.
He lashes out with blind brute force
but already he's losing torque--
as down our hole goes.
I'd love to stay and grab a bite
but many must be fed!
This is a rather tiring life
but I'm a family ant.

Family I have and
family I am
