Serenity

Serenity

A Poem by Chase

I'm sinking, like a witch of the past,
but of my own accord.
Briefly I am surrounded by gulls,
as they make the dive for food.
I am soon far below them.
Next, the reef of coral:
Bright and alive;
harboring the lives of trillions and
amass with colors the spectrum has yet to describe.
Down and, still, further down I sink.
The last bubble leaves my lips and
with one last look up, I see it.
Sun shining high and brightly on the water above me,
streaming through the ocean to bring light,
though I am surrounded by the cold and dark;
gazing on the most precious of life,
as mine is taken.
