The Selflessness of Me

The Selflessness of Me

A Poem by Chase

I’ve lived my life in full.

Child to father- father to man.

What now is left?

My part is all but finished here-

Enlightenment I’ve reached.

What’s next?

To help and give back what I can.

This, life seems to teach.

A purpose.

I’ve paid my dues

and done the work- Toiled in the fields.

Harvested the crops and fish and

cooked the evening meals.

Yet here I sit

as days go by,

helping those in need.
