Mirage

Mirage

A Poem by Chase

We lay in the sands of a distant beach

with seashells in our hair.

So wondrous it feels.

                My leg kicks absently.

                She doesn’t seem to notice.

The intense heat of the sun beats down on us

growing hotter by the second.

It matters not- for I am with her.

She pays no mind to the heat.

A kiss upon her lips- caress.

Desire deep within.

Her scent encompassing my senses.

Though the waves tickle our sand strewn toes

                The heat is dogged,

                direct.

                Still she cares not

Closing my eyes to the cool ocean breeze upon my face,

It seems not to touch anywhere else.

Eyes blink open to a new hazy scene.

Gone is the one who heals my pains,

It must have been a dream.

The fan is blowing on my face,

cooling and direct.

Reminding me of reality.

I shed a layer of blankets that

have overheated me-

Stealing from my dream.

A sip of water- the drink of life

that shall sustain me

through the night

until you come back home,

my wife.
