Restless Dead (2)

Restless Dead (2)

A Poem by Chase

Opening to a darkness so pure the heart fails.

Thump Thump

The hands feel forward and are stopped- restrained.

Thump Thump

Stuffy pungent air of pine

and of earth suffocate the senses.

Thump Thump, Thump Thump

Above, below, beside, beneath- wood.

Encased.

Thump Thump, Thump Thump, Thump thump

Incoherent madness.

A thrash of limbs

uncontrolled.

Mad panic within.

Exhausted.

CRACK

Thump Thump, Thump Thump, Thump thump

Soil trickles upon the face- invading.

Oxygen low.

Thump Thump, Thump Thump

Forced resolution setting in.

Thump Thump

The inevitable soon to be.

Thump

Closing to a darkness so pure the heart fails.
