Restless Dead

Restless Dead

A Poem by Chase

Opening to darkness
Forward thump
Knock knock
Wood on rump
Encased in black
Smell of earth
Lying back
Warmth gone from hearth
Stuffy, pungent, this air
Inside my coffin
The resting lair
