Surprise

Surprise

A Poem by Chase

Brutal winter winds are blowing
Drifts of snow in mounds
Early birds now have stopped crowing
Unheard, beautiful sounds
Snapping, popping, breaking branches
Trees bare of their clothes
What innocent thing do I see
Down under the snow
There is a flower
Color among white
Inside of all the pain and cold
Lies love, and warmth for you
The beauty of life
Sustained by you
Erased of all but what I need
I'm left with thoughts of her
When shes not here, I'm all alone
My speech becoming slur
Someday I know
That bud will bloom
A welcome blossom of chance
Against all odds, you live in me
From you a glance
Shall make me dance
With wonder, love, and awe
