Memories of Boarding School Days : Bogunjoko, S.SA Story by Alao TaiwoIt describes the accomplishments and fatherly care of a former school principal.Memories of Boarding School Days : Bogunjoko, S.S
Mr Bogunjoko won an award at Osogbo in 2005. The heads of Federal Government Establishments decided he was worthy of one because he gave Federal Government College, Ikirun (F.G.C.IK) a face-lift: ceaseless potable water supply, introduction of new welfare package for students including watching Indian bollywood movies and English Premier Football League on weekends; from 2pm after morning prep on saturdays and on sunday evenings. He was huge, tall, bodied with an air of generosity, composure and fatherly love. This was obvious each time he spoke to us on the assembly ground on mondays and fridays and used the maxim “to be fore-warned is to be fore-harmed” with a slow, boneless intonation that would convince a student on the normal side of child growth-adolescence continuum. There were even times he protected junior students on announcing saturday inspection results enjoining seniors not to beat the junior students of whichever house came last. He was different, and those of us who knew the horrors of previous terms and tenure could easily tell the difference from the time he took charge of the school affairs when my set was on junior NECO break till early senior secondary school three, when the temperament of another principal who held the helm of affairs very briefly before we exited school convinced us further of Mr Bogunjoko’s merit of the award he received at City hall, Osogbo with Mrs Erelu, the then deputy governor seated in person. © 2017 Alao Taiwo |
