It's all I know

It's all I know

A Poem by Mary Ochoa

It's the past that haunts
haunts my bones
haunts my soul
haunts my thoughts
haunts my trust

He took it all from me
It's not something he can give back

I'm wounded
Skin still shivers with fear at the sight
The sight of his face
The sight of his name
The sight of his shadow

I'm wounded
No man can gain my trust
He took it all from me

I no longer believe
Believe in hope
Believe in happiness
Believe in strengh
Believe in life

How to move on?
I don't know
I just walk straight
With my head down

Because that's all I know

This is BEAuTIFUL. I realize that it has a sway of sadness in its theme, like a backdrop, but even Martin Luther King Jr. found a use for the same methodology. In his speeches. He reached out into our psyche with a hypnotic form of anaphora until it raised our collective consciousness:

"I have a dream that one day...
I have a dream that our children....
I have a dream....I HAVE A DREAM!"

Over and over from the marches to Selma to the streets near the Lincoln Memorial and it's monuments spread out with followers .
You wonder how you can ever "move on"....Keep your talents vigil and your daily fires of poetry burning bright for passion because one day you will cross over a line...and we just might need it. Plus you are already in pretty impressive company.

Great! I think it's catchy how you used the last word of a piece and incorporated it in the next three lines at the beginning. It could be considered witty. If you do this again take those same words you duplicated and make one line at the beginning or end to bring everything together.
