Tempest

Tempest

A Poem by Omar

Tempest

But a tempest in

A silent cavern

                Heavy winds

Loaded with sweet rain,

                Soft snow

                                Sharp hail

Laden with pangs and bleeding heart—

                                         —beats

Obscure

Obscure and muted

Numb amid an icy frost

Of intolerable heat

                Encumbered—

By sprouting buds of

Cancer

Watered impeccably

In my garden

Squealing into the mirror

In muffled screeches

Wondering

Oh, tempest—

Ram me effortlessly

Into the gutter again

Oh, willow tree

In my garden

Heavy with the weight of

Tempestuous thoughts

And sinking feelings

And senseless anchors

Cast as if from a ship

Rooted to the bed of the sea

Your branches brushing the grass

As leaves meet the ground again

                Tempest,

Dying away to leave a rosy morning sky

For me to watch as seagulls glide

On the surface of the ocean

Cataclysm

Almost

As if nothing had happened

Silence

And I wait for you to strike again—

Tempest.

Sounds like the pangs of depression. You've conveyed it nicely through some wonderful metaphors. Hope this doesn't describe you in the norm. Great poem.

Very vivid language and wonderful usage of nature imagery. This is an intelligent poem, one that leaves its readers to ponder its depth. Thanks for the reviews. I appreciate your writing and think I will read another.
