Chams of Your Spirit

Chams of Your Spirit

A Poem by Omar
"

A difficult case of unrequited love... Where the attraction is more spiritual and profound...

"

Like a pearl

Sunken to the seabed

In your immeasurable depth

You glimmer on an ebony ground…

A curious child I am—

Blank papers and pen in hand

I rush to you

Parched,

Longing to drink from your wells

Of Profundity

I plunge into you…

But I float…

And God knows how much I

Long to sink…

I stagnate painfully

You—now a shallow puddle of raindrops

On the sidewalk

Of a misty school morning forgotten

As I wait for the bus under my umbrella

Soaked—

I lull myself with sweet convictions

Skin warmed by hope from a golden sun,
And I pray

I ask,

Why is it me you have kept

Stagnant

Waiting—at your veneer

Gates chained shut,

As though,

I am not worthy?

Why is it that you wrap me in your futility?

As if fake rainbow colors

Are all what I deserve

And still, I have to wonder

As I sob

Under the sleepless stars

What it would be like

To plunge

Into the chasms

                                Of your spirit…

Wow I really enjoyed this poem. Unrequited love is such a painful thing. I have been through it twice and am still recovering. God bless and happy writing.
