In the Sunlight

In the Sunlight

A Poem by Omar

The blades of grass

Cut yesterday
Still bleed a dewy green

Trickling

Like emerald

In the sunlight

Everything is fresh

And raw

Even the wounds

Pulsing furiously

No matter the centuries

Closeted—

In the sunlight

Everything is new

Even the pangs,

More intense

Hearts more swollen

Ghost stories

Bathed with color

Alive,

Floating and dancing

Across a gray ballroom

Light filtering

Through the rose glass windows

In the sunlight,

Nothing waits

It all accelerates

Ascending

So—

Close the curtains

Or blow them open

Even dusty cobwebs

Of yesterday's apocalypse

Sparkle

In the sunlight
