Shattered (Skywards)A Poem by OmarI can't believe I'm posting a poem I've written four years ago! (Though extensively edited). I'm indulging in reminiscing about an old crush I had on someone, much like in Starmaker, but I was far more immature at the time. It's nice to savor old emotionsWhen I thought it was beauty— And purity, I thought it was within Within your soul It made my cravings stronger, For you see, the fantasies that control my mind Are not enough to quench my thirst Or quell the raging storms of desire We are engulfed by fear— Or worry may lurk in our souls We are afraid Afraid to touch (Are you afraid of my fingertips?) Or at least, I toyed with the notion To please myself— To justify my isolation The departure to another world slips nearer Shattering images on its glorious way Its tyrannous way Satisfied by pulverizing the broken pieces Of what used to be a broken heart A broken heart that once survived Survived its own haunting nightmares Running in tears, intoxicated— Trying to forget Forget the mess and destruction Love was what once conquered all What killed the pain And pulled pleaure from the soils and ashes
Love, and desire Brutal desire for your brown skin, Your wet lips, Your scorching body, Your everything. Still, the broken hearts protest Complain about this chaos they inhabit This glacial mayhem, Which pushed them to casting Their snowy-white flags Towards the torn sky Skywards.
