Falling in Love with Air

Falling in Love with Air

A Poem by Omar
"

It's always been my guilty pleasure to fantasize about love, and I wrote this poem way before I fell in love for the first time. This was just a compilation of my speculations and thoughts on the perfect love and perfect lover.

"
You are everything I dreamed about
I only long to hear your voice
Wherever I hide away you find me
To hear my whispers through the noise
I can always open up my soul
And tell you things that I've yet told

With you, my inhibitions glide
Into the sun, into the sky
I find salvation sweet as cherry
As you breathlessly shine me sacred light
Your love is sweet like chocolate berry
I can be weak as feather, still as night

I'm slowly slipping into sedative violet
Into this state where I don't think
I'm driven by impulse to envision
Things I've yet to plummet in
I think I'm falling in love with you
And I've been falling in love with,

Your skin
Your eyes
Your amber hair
I'm not foolishI do know
That you're not really there
So all the while I've solely been
Falling in love with air

And I can't seem to fall out

I know I just constructed you
I made you so pristine
But I only wave my hand right through you
That so I can see,
That you're a ghost
You are not real
From the sun
You're but a beam
You're a streak of midnight morning cream
I'm falling in love
With subtle dreams

Your eyes, they gleam with sacred brown
Your smile, your laugh, your playful frown
Your breath, your skin, your fragile mind
Like late-night magichard to find

I don't know why I keep on chasing
Candy love with sugar lacing
Night and day, I still insist
Though I'm not sure if you exist
I guess I love the way it feels
To be wrapped up, to be concealed
To be in love with images
With all of what I find surreal

I love to wish
I love to dream
To live to see the roses beam
And pour me dew
And say my name
Till then, to me,
Love's just a game ;)

Author's Note

Omar
You may notice many sweet references like Sugar or Candy, and that's because I used to associate the "probable" rush of love to the rush on gets when they're high on sugar. Again, that was just my imagination, but hey, it was close enough to the reality!
Love really is like an overdose of sweetness.

This was just beautiful way to express this falling in love with the idea of being in love, that is what is says to me. I totally adored your poem. "I know I just constructed you
I made you so pristine
But I only wave my hand right through you " --------here is this lightness of loving.

Though I'm not sure if you exist
I guess I love the way it feels
To be wrapped up, to be concealed
To be in love with images
With all of what I find surreal -------------this is a miracle we like to experinece...I even think we are in love with something what it is not. and when we start to love, sometimes our life is put to shock coming to us in the voice of the beloved, our to much of this "want".

terrific poem. i loved.

Ah, what a marvelous comment on how easy it is to fall in love with an ideal! I've written several poems on that subject myself - it must be a Romantic thing XD This is really well done, and not just because I can relate to the subject matter so much. I really like the references to different kinds of candy, because the idea that love is "like an overdose of sweetness" is delightfully original idea and it really adds to your poem. There are points where I think it drags a little (the stanza that begins "Your skin/Your eyes/Your amber hair..." especially, because the imagery isn't quite as tight as in the rest of the poem) but all in all it's wonderfully well put together. Great job on this; it's a very well-thought out commentary on a much-written about subject!

"Your love is as sweet as chocolate berry"

Now you got me hunting down the nearest piece of Hershey's in my purse! I was doing so well too... ;-)

Great read, I like it!

I like this. The avatar of the pink cupcake drew me in. Great job at incorporating candy and sugar in it, referring to that special woman you desire. I love it when men draw in fantasy, it shows they have a romantic bone in their body.

"Falling in love with air," hopefull soon you will be "falling in love with that woman in real life."

This is so great and magical!!! It's almost like sending up a wish on a puffy cloud of cotton candy. So playful and adorable. It's great that our imaginations can take us out of our little worlds and into the heavens. Excellent title and all around great piece!!!! Very, very good!!!

Soooooooo cuteeee!!
And it has sweets references! XD Such an adorable poem! Very adorable and light and fluffy... I absolutely adore this! I haven't fallen in love yet. So I have no idea how close this is to the truth! None the less, this is a very very lovely poem. The mixture of the two themes is a stroke of genius.
Thanks so much for sharing this Cpt Jack!!
