PlanetsA Poem by Omar
Distant planets A distant bliss Unreachable heavens I'm bound to miss
Starlight is a demo version A sample of A beautiful kiss
Clouds float by And I'm stranded here Sailboats drifting through the sky As I die in jealousy
How stupid; how naïve How ambitious to believe That stars could be reached Through a bridge I build by tears Ocean pearls which I shape Into planets far away Comettails that drift away Leave me frigid in today
Constellations are a splendor Unreachable, they make me wonder I reach out to the wind To find my palms drenched in sin
Before galaxies, I stand minute Bound and tied, blind and mute Away from sunlight in a crystal air I cannot breathe A dying flare
Hold me—save me I am scared Scared of myself Scared to declare Scared to be a nova star Reaching stardust—going far
Black holes That I I embed in my skies They swallow me whole, As I pretend they're not mine
My solar system A complication A cocktail of moons And satellites But someday, I Will find my way, The yellow-brick road Unto the lights © 2008 OmarReviews
