the river's promise. part II.A Poem by Madison.I am a tragic creature. I awake in the cool, clear water. My lungs have stopped.-- They are at rest and my mind is alert. My heart has stopped and is no longer broken. It is as stone,-- cold, solid, strong. It weighs me down into the delicious water. My sisters find me, reveling in the glorious light. I spin in ecstasy and my laughter bubbles to the surface. The water slips through my throat, so calm and refreshing. © 2014 Madison.Reviews
