The Slip of Rain

The Slip of Rain

A Poem by Madison.

The Sky breaks open and iloveyous begin to fall down,

breaking and spilling upon the ground, caressing the soggy petals.

They soak into the hard cement,

seep into the soft dirt,

 slip into the rough bark.

Drip, drip, slip, slip

comes the rain upon the foggy window pane,

my heart stares out the glass,

never wanting the falling water to pass,

wanting the love of the rain to come inside and dance around my tired face,

to slide down my scratchy throat,

letting the cool, heavenly goodness soothe the tightness.

My only possession the tear, rain of my own,

wishing and hoping to mix it with the sad hope of sky,

letting it fall to the ground,

to feel the hard cement drown…
