III. gloried ship

III. gloried ship

A Poem by Madison.

You find me lying near the pond
all my broken strength is gone
quietly
I'd slipped in
only to never
breathe again
your rolling tears
across your cheek
fall fast and thick
upon my face.
My stone cold lips
they seem to say
forget me here
forget this day.
But shake me from
my reverie.
Alas, this effort
it cannot be.

Now I sail this gloried ship,
the ship to take me home,
to a place I've always known.
