the river's promise.

the river's promise.

A Poem by Madison.

My Fingers trip across the surface of the water

As I stare into its glittery depths

The river whispers tempting,

Begging,

Promising,

Pulling me in,

Down,

Under…

I submerge myself into the chilling,

The enticing water.

Frantically Freezing,

My breath has stopped.

Icy and Swift,

The River has already captured my Heart.

I lay still and silent

In the depths of my watery grave.

The River gently caresses,

Whispering promises no being can keep

And despite her cruel and selfish lies,

I find myself wanting this.

Forever.

My purple-blue lips,

They whisper my surrender,

My breath quickly carried away.

Immortalized,

I rest Final and Deep.
