pretty

pretty

A Poem by Madison.

Mirror, mirror in front of me--

Tell me what it is you see.

Mirror, mirror in my hand--

Tell me I’m pretty, that I’m grand.

Shiny reflection…

Tell the truth.

Mirror, mirror on the wall--

You say I’m the plainest one of all.

Mirror, mirror in my head--

You say I must be skinnier instead.

Shiny reflection…

You never lie.

Mirrors, mirrors all around--

They tell me to keep looking down.

Mirrors, mirrors surrounding me--

Reminders that I am ugly.

Shiny reflections…

Show the truth.

Mirror, mirror once on the door--

Now shiny broken pieces on the floor.

Mirror, mirror no more--

I look up to see my mother,

I see myself in her face--

And she is pretty.

The true reflection.

She doesn't lie.

My mother tells the truth.
