Shinola In The Long Run

Shinola In The Long Run

A Poem by Olmsted A. T.

Shinola In The Long Run

F**k you I'm bitter
you're ignorant
we'll never see eye to eye
just sit tight in dreams
of compromised misery
reaching for lofty goals
that don't mean anything

one day your dreams will be smashed  (they'll be dashed)
against the rocks of your drinking glass
and you'll see you wasted all the time you had
in the pursuit of things that don't mean s**t or ...

Shinola in the long run
once it's boiled down
the cobwebs are wiped away
and everything's figured out
Shinola in the long run
nothing matters then
as you waste away and beg and plead
to try it all again

Take a picture to remember
when you;re drooling on yourself
and reality decks you right in the face
and each charade you built
gets disassembled lie by cultivated lie
and you wonder what went wrong
as you try to move ahead
less like an adult and more like a kid
