Slacker

Slacker

A Poem by Olmsted A. T.

Slacker

I try and I try

to ignore your f*****g lies

but find I can't bribe myself to do it

because I've got more self respect

then to listen to your bullshit

and dog paddle through your mental sewage

So instead I'll burn it down

collect the ashes of your ego

and force feed em to you

with cold chasers of reality

growing sick of your social charades

your position was never in jeopardy

The head of the table

was never something

I feigned interest in

I'll be just fine with a cold IBC

and a prefab tv dinner in the den

don't ever accuse me of failing to fit in

don't give a second thought to my apathetic grin

Because the simple fact is that I just don't care

and your lively-hood don't mean s**t to me

your accomplishments what do they really mean

a title yeah that's something I'll waste my life for

I'm glad I'm not part of your sick little suit and tie tribe

and wouldn't have it any other way

Don't waste your time on me

so keep pandering

your self indulgent bile

there's always those who will buy in happily
