Glue

Glue

A Poem by Olmsted A. T.

Glue

Tried ups

tried downs

tried in betweens

and back arounds

tried everything to kill it

but the need won’t go away

Tried once

tried twice

tried every other kind of vice

there’s no way to derail it

man the pain is here to stay

But in the end

I’m still aping for it

there’s no way to ignore it

no how to bribe my mind

free of it’s grip

It haunts me like the old freight train’s whistle

as it’s headed out of town (headed out of town)

hauling her luggage and that broken fiddle

I sold when I was down and out (down and out!)

whiskey wash her from my mind

come and warm my soul

all I got’s this constant ache

and it’s making me lose control

Tried lust

tried love

tried sex rock n roll and drugs

but nothing makes me smile

like she used to do

tried sports

tried art

tried to mend my broken heart

but seems that

I'm fresh out of glue
