Leaving Modesto

Leaving Modesto

A Poem by Olmsted A. T.

Leaving Modesto

Leaving Modesto

there's nothing for me here

except car thefts

and gangland agriculture

but at least it's beats Bakersfield

Been too many years

stuck deep down in the doldrums

strolling shrinking piers

where the madams faking spasms

manufactured dreams

graffitied on the sidewalks

captured by all means

by hostages of the mindfucks

in dirty needles puke and piss

And I'll

never miss it

sayonara

so long

goodbye

f**k you

good riddance

I can't wait

to look into the rear-view mirror

middle-finger out the window

high in the air

as the cityscapes disappear

Leaving Modesto

without a pang of doubt

sick of stagnant

socially awkward circles

full of ignorants

and misspent clout

Lived through many sneers

deflected from the douchebags

trying to hold me back

from doing things my own way

wet behind the ears

still beaten at their own game

ordinary shares

collected over four decades

in a galaxy far far away!
