VFW

A Poem by Olmsted A. T.

VFW

We met at the VFW

Then embarked on a revolution made for two

they had a tank parked right outside

it was a metaphor for our lives

both of us in constant internal warfare

Things haven't been the same

since we overthrew Rome

we both felt the change

but didn't comprehend

what was going on

but as days passed

we learned the outcome

as both of us gasped

and i knew something must be done

You said i think it's possible

I said "i think we can't"

You admitted failure was probable

And i reminded you

we could barely pay the rent

You wished to give it a try and i had to decline politely
