As Long As She Walks

As Long As She Walks

A Poem by Olmsted A. T.
"

A song written about the adventures of my old singer Ferret. He definitely is a character. I don't condone his antics just observe and report - this is a true story.

"
As Long As She Walks

She asked "Did you jump out of a comic book ?"

I said "No but I am quite the character,"

that made her smile and we had a beer

and engaged in nonsensical banter

I thought I might have a shot

I thought this could be it

the door seemed to be wide open

I just needed to find my way in

Because as long as she walks

she's the one for me

my standards they are pretty low

but not as low as they can be

As long as she she walks

we'll both be ok

but if she can't walk

no matter how drunk

I'll just turn away

The night took a tragic turn

when some disturbing news I learned

she owned a two story mansion

but nothing going on upstairs at all

We shot some games of pool

and whiled away the time

I was drinking like a fool

calculating

if i should make her mine

I thought I might have a shot

I thought this could be it

the door seemed to be wide open

I just needed to find my way in

We left later that evening

and I took her home

and damn if you wouldn't know it

I found my questions answer quickly

as I made my final decision

her dog jumped up and bit me

Because as long as she walks

she's the one for me

my standards they are pretty low

but not as low as they can be

As long as she she walks

we'll both be ok

but if she doesn't walk

no matter how damn drunk I am

I'll just turn away
