I'm King at Making Worst of a Good Thing

I'm King at Making Worst of a Good Thing

A Poem by Olmsted A. T.

I'm King at Making Worst of a Good Thing

You know I'm king at making worst of a good thing
guilty as charged I've squandered all I've received
self proclaimed master of offering nothing
graduated scholar a blatherskite phd

For you to enjoy as you judge me
from your point of view from the mezzanine

I must look pretty small down here
and I wish you would join me

As you sit and you smirk
as I try for all I'm worth
which I know isn't much to you right now
yet I still pray for the day you realize
that I loved you like no one knows how

All our flaws were tallied
and we rallied round ideals
we thought were crucial to our happiness
without all the facts
hope is a dead mans dream
But it makes for light conversation

You know I'm king at making worst of a good thing
guilty as charged I've squandered all I've received
self proclaimed master of offering nothing
graduated scholar a blatherskite phd
