Never Bet The Devil Your Head

Never Bet The Devil Your Head

A Poem by Olmsted A. T.

Never Bet The Devil Your Head

Never bet the devil your head

Don't you bet the devil your head

he'll promise you everything

that you ever wanted

but dont you bet the devil your head

Listen to me my friends

Ive seen it all before

time and time again

think you got it beat

yeah top of the world

that's when he comes

to collect his pay

Never give a greedy woman your heart

don't you give a greedy woman your heart

quick like an addicts needle

you'll be back at the start

but don't you give a greedy woman your heart

If you're wondering how I know

I'll show you the scars where the whiskey bottle broke and ...

recant guided tours

through the piss stained alleys

the broken and disparaged hate to call home yeah

It's not a pretty sight

and tends to wear thin over time

Never lend a beggar broken dreams

no don't you lend a beggar broken dreams

don't ya even spare the time if they harass you for a dime

because things ain't always the way they seem

Sister don't let a bad man do you wrong

you best not let a bad man do you wrong

just hold out for a good man one is bound to come along

just never let a bad man do you wrong
