Grey Flannel Armor

Grey Flannel Armor

A Poem by Olmsted A. T.

Grey Flannel Armor

Looking back through twilight eyes

Five o’clock shadows on the rise

memories that have lingered

and grown long in the tooth

Shelby Deveruax

where did our yesterdays run off to

even self inflicted wounds scar in time

but in the end there was always you

Her eyes bright as fireworks

sparks of a revolution

Her voice as clean as a fresh waxed floor

like an angel’s answered prayer

Shelby Deveruax

where did our yesterdays run off to

even self inflicted wounds scar in time

but in the end there was always you

I wrapped my heart in grey flannel armor

boarded a spaceship and took yours away

but I hope one day when we’re older

I’ll be seeing you again

Grey flannel armor

All these wasted moments

spent racing towards the sun

after all these lonesome years

I wish you could’ve been there to tag along
