Campfire Conversation

Campfire Conversation

A Poem by Olmsted A. T.

Campfire Conversation

The days they pass they drift on by

as the sun starts to berate us with the light

the moon sinks into her slumber

and the people start their day

All the while the broken hearts

the poets and the deluded romantics

clench their fists and curse the fact

things haven't changed

But it makes good campfire conversation

so we let them prattle on

and we smash our glasses

we pour out all the troubles of the day

Waiting for nighttime to awake and

greet us with a song

that will last for all our years

or at least unil the sun shines again

These dark moments they strengthen us

they make us who we are

it's how we deal with the cards

when the deck has been stacked

since you walked into he bar

but roll the dice it doesn't matter

you dont have much to lose

Just when tou think you got it made

the ground starts into a geoove

loss of your footing

how's it feeling

I think it really sucks

I didn't have a backup plan

because i didn't think far ahead

strategy wasn't a subject that i ever

accelled in

and it shows why I'm still sitting here

at the bottom of the bridge
