When I Saw You ThereA Poem by Olmsted A. T.Well it is another bit of lyrics - this is not a Waltz though - well at least not yet. When I Saw You There When I saw u there With that debonair Air of self-destruction I couldn’t turn your way To try to dissuade The wrath that u had brought on
And......
I knew right there There’s no way that things could fail And that the captain no longer would narrate stories To no one except those dusty sails
If only for a minute Just a single memory When we were both excited On whom we thought that we should be
That train has past Whistle sounded long ago And the martyrs we employed Have walked the picket lines and thrown around rotten ideas that yield such bitter consequence But I scoff at their inflated egos And try the best I can
But things don’t seem the same Since we’ve gone our separate ways The pizzas lost its flavor Although I know my tastes haven’t changed The menu's grown quite stale Though the ingredients are the same And the cooks just smoke their cigarettes in dead-locked debate
All I could do was flash a smile And hope the gods Would rule in my favor F**k I know it's been a while The challenge has been thrown Just like pistols at dawn And I hope that I can measure up to these lyrics that I’ve sewn
But our portrait has so many flaws It should occupy the Louvre Chords strumming redundantly By moonlight In hopes that I get to see you soon
But that ship has sailed And once again I missed the boat The water has never been as intriguing as it appears to me now
