Springtime's Sweet RevengeA Poem by Olmsted A. T.A WaltzSpringtime's Sweet Revenge Well we made it through October’s harvest and now it’s onto spring’s sweet revenge With requiems for the dignified And dirges for the indigent
Maidens belting out sorrows Sewn since long ago with threads of despair their work has carried on
they're weaving bitter baskets to eulogize their loved ones snuffed out cares the product hefts a heavy penny but of course the demand is there
The lamps are casting lowly glows over the tops of unfinished pints the pictures need adjusting their frames seem too polite
the loons are laughing loudly the terror feeds their thirst the barkers are packing up cash box and reciting crooked verse
smiles tend to overshadow the chaos that’s blatantly ignored just paint on happy faces and you’ll soon earn your reward
don't mistake the revelry for what lies beneath all the masses huddled in the dusty cobbled streets the fog thickens like a
plumbers plot run down with weeds and the curdled cries of
nighttime as she sneaks a peak
