Goodnight Dove

Goodnight Dove

A Poem by Olmsted A. T.

A Bit Of Words

"

Goodnight Dove:

Look into your eyes

And cant help but want to linger

Warming my heart with the fires that burn inside

Respond with a snarky remark and a knowing smile

And increase the steam with a kiss

Goodnite dove - close your eyes

Hold your heart next to mine

Think of me once

And ill dream of you twice

As old mother moon watches o'er us through the night

then takes her leave when we'll wake side by side

Goodnite Dove - get some rest

Lay your head on my chest

With pillow talk

Of days yet to come

As old mother moon watches o'er us through the night

then takes her leave when we'll wake side by side

Goodnight Dove - oh how i love you

Your passion burns bright

A renovated lighthouse beam

Through the foggy maelstrom of life

For sure you can bet well reach the shore

And pick handfuls of fresh daisies

And finger-paint landscapes of our own countryside

The cynics may scoff and talk of delusion - the grandeur implied - we've already won

Wrap my arms around you and tell you it'll be alright

And hold you till the sun rises years from now on

Even though failure is society's intrinsic design

Doesn't mean that we'll falter - we'll just lengthen our strides

They can burst through the door

with casebooks and stories

verified allegories of relations of old

Does it not matter the length of the list of their cliches

This life is ours - we can do as we please

Goodnight Dove here is our chance

This is the big one - we're gonna make it

By this mark my words

The b******s will try to dissuade us

Let them try all they want

And we'll give them what for

Well tend the garden and yank out the weeds

Rustle up a dandy melody

And together we'll sing

As old mother moon watches o'er us through the night

And takes her leave with the daybreak as we awake side by side
