Angel's Ghost

A Bit More Words

Angel's Ghost:

Well I've been chasing an angels ghost

For so long my shoes have worn soles

In the raindrops and lonely nights

I curse this cruel December spent on my own

Her face calls to be kissed in the darkness

And her voice a specter in my ears

and the wishes i probably

make in vain wont quell the ache of her not being here

Oh wont ye come back

Tis all that i ask

at night and many more times between sober days

O how i long to sing out a song

about us being together once again

Until the time when we walk hand in hand

Ill share the moonlight with a vacant stare

The bottle has been a good fair weather fiend

More hurt than helpful Ask the players of heartstrings

And the masters of song Rounding corners downtown alone

Remind me of the happiness that i was once able to hold

At night i cry out frustrated and angry

for misdeeds that  i cant take back

And if daydreams were an accepted currency

we'd dance atop mountains of cash

We'd dine beside the ocean

with the sound of the waves at our back

Offering good advice to young lovers

to cherish the time that they have

If only forgiveness were achieved so easily

and all the poets could be proven wrong

Hindsight ain't worth the whiskey stained paper

that love songs are hastily scrawled upon

Its these last few hours before the dawn

i care for the least when dreams seem

to be quickly slipping away

And a glance over at our photograph on the nightstand

Cant help but confirm that things have not changed
