ITMOY Chapter 2 - sneak peek (part 1)A Chapter by Ollivia EveretteWhile waiting, Damien's eyes traveled across the room, taking note of the sick little boy who sat in front of him on the other side. The strong smell of medicine here was enough to make those sensitive to odors feel dizzy. The constant ticking from the clock seemed to have calmed him in ways, as his shoulders were no longer as stiff as when he entered earlier. Two nurses who seem to be on break stopped at the water dispenser in the waiting room. “Isa? Is everything alright? You've been looking a little down all day." The nurse asked the other. “Yeah, just fine..""she sighed"“I'm just thinking about my sister. She works at one of those big banks but quite down the promotion line. She cried to me the other night that they're having to lay off people starting in February because of everything lately. She doesn't know what to do." “That's a lousy way to start the new year. We shouldn't have that problem here at least." “Still. I'll have to hurry and take money out of our accounts before the bank takes it to safe their asses." “But isn't that, like" Stealing? Can they legally get away with that?" “Unfortunately, yes. By definition, whatever you have in the banks is no longer yours. They do give your money back afterwards but it's only a certain amount, so if you're an owner of a big company, you're screwed over. " “By the way..." The troubled nurse looked around with a brow raised. “Does anyone know where our young but skilled surgeon, Edmund is? No one's heard from him." “No, he didn't even call in sick. Our head surgeon got so upset he wasn't there to assist in the operation last night, you didn't want to go near the man." “Think something bad happened to him?" “I don't know.. But I always felt like there was something off about him." She sighed, “Whatever, let's just get through with today and go home." © 2024 Ollivia Everette
